‘House Sale’ demonstrates that not all property ventures go to plan. In ‘The Researcher’ a central character combines his academic flair with his recreational activities. ‘The Exam’ highlights how some students approach and fare within an exam. Although I have never heard of a single exam which was similar to the story I have heard of many exams where the incidents mentioned have occurred. The ‘werewolf story’ contains fashion issues, bowl cuts, nymphomania and an STI. It is a parody on some of the ideas taken from werewolf folklore. ‘Christmas season wedding’ gives an example of the power of love and how it can move people. ‘The Political Candidate’ is a short story about a man who takes drastic measures to win votes in a local election. ‘The Model’ is a short story about a man meeting a beautiful woman who is living in diminished circumstances. It demonstrates that love and bleach can conquer all. ‘Shelving’ deals with an accident in the workplace and health and safety issues. ‘Mr Flannery’ deals with the serious issue of domestic violence. Inter partner violence is a growing problem and there are many sites on the internet such as the Mayo clinic which can give advice on what to do in such situations. Finally ‘Face Cream’ is a whimsical story about a company and the making of pharmaceutical products.
